The Fernando Pereira Chair in Data Culture aims to build on the intellectual legacy of Professor Fernando Pereira while responding to a growing need among executives and entrepreneurs: to interpret and use economic and financial information in a rigorous, strategic and ethically grounded way.
The chair has two main areas of impact:
- Educating future business leaders by promoting a robust, data-driven approach to management that strengthens judgment and decision-making.
- Acting as a laboratory for innovation, where new methodologies are explored and developed to integrate accounting and financial information into managerial decision-making in an accessible, transparent and ethical manner.
Objectives.

Foster a data-driven culture as the foundation of sound decision-making. When used responsibly, data enables organizations to identify opportunities, anticipate risks and enhance transparency.

Develop management tools based on relevant metrics that support the anticipation of market shifts, the assessment of profitability and the measurement of corporate sustainability.

Integrate emerging methodologies, including artificial intelligence and algorithm auditing, to promote transparency, fairness and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
Chair.
Eric Weber is professor in the Accounting and Control Department. He was the associate dean for 17 years, and member of the Executive Committee of IESE for 23 years. He is a member of the Harvard Business School – IESE Advisory Committee. He has formerly served as the associate dean for the MBA program, as the associate dean for Executive Education and Executive MBA programs and as the academic director for the Global Executive MBA program.
