Joan holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and a MBA from ESADE Business School. He also developed a PDG at IESE and a Program in Innovation Leadership by the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In addition he is an Industrial Engineer from the UPC and has been adjunct professor in Supply Chain Management at the Master Degree in Logistics by the UPC.
He joined IESE in 2012 as part time lecturer in Production, Technology and Operations Management at IESE Business School teaching in Executive Education programs.
Joan started his professional career at HP as a Manufacturing Engineer and since then he held different management positions in Manufacturing, Procurement, Planning, Supply Chain and Logistics at EMEA level for the printing and computing business units along his 28 years of experience at HP.
His areas of expertise are the management, optimization and innovation of global supply chain operations, with a particular emphasis on the reengineering of logistics networks, outsourcing and strategic alliances in supply chain, manufacturing and logistics. He is also specialist in Industry 4.0, new production technologies such as 3D Printing, design of customer centric operations and strategic project management under complexity.
He has published and co-authored several articles and books in the area of logistics contracts and has participated in conferences and international forums about production, logistics and supply chain management. He was awarded by the Spanish Logistics Association with the a prize in Logistics Research and in addition he was granted a patent in the US.
