This academic year, IESE welcomes three new professors who will strengthen the areas of Operations, Finance, and Marketing: Clara Carrera, Marc de la Barrera, and Chadwick Miller.
With these new additions, IESE’s full-time faculty now includes 125 professors from 24 different nationalities. In addition, IESE counts on 74 external collaborators this year.
Clara Carrera, Assistant Professor. Department of Operations, Information and Technology.
Clara Carrera joins IESE as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Operations, Information and Technology. She earned her Ph.D. at INSEAD, where she was a member of the Sustainable Business Initiative. She holds an engineering degree from École Polytechnique (France) and both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Civil Engineering from UPC-BarcelonaTech. Prior to her Ph.D., she worked as a consultant at Boston Consulting Group.
Her research focuses on sustainable operations management, with special attention to the physical and behavioral limits of clean energy and the circular economy. She has studied the relationship between product design and the recycling of critical materials, as well as the challenges of refurbishing electronic products. She also analyzes how consumers choose and evaluate their service experiences. Her work has been published in Management Science and featured in The Conversation.
Marc de la Barrera, Assistant Professor. Department of Financial Management.
Marc de la Barrera i Bardalet joins IESE as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Financial Management. He holds degrees in Civil and Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, a master’s in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT, where he also completed postdoctoral studies at MIT Sloan. He was a recipient of the La Caixa Fellowship and recently obtained the Juan de la Cierva Fellowship to begin his academic career at IESE.
His research addresses questions in macroeconomics, finance, and the labor market, with a particular interest in the effects of inflation: how it influences wage setting, income redistribution among households, and the pricing of nominal bonds. He has also conducted research in international finance and exchange rate formation.
Chadwick Miller, Visiting Associate Professor. Department of Marketing.
Chadwick Miller joins IESE as a Visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Marketing. He was previously a faculty member at Washington State University and worked in marketing and supply chain roles at Nissan North America.
His research explores the impact of advertising spending and price incentives on market share, consumer behavior, and repurchase decisions. His work has been published in Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science, Management Science, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
