IESE MBAs’ New Venture Attracts Investors
In just nine months since its launch, the new venture Ofertia has succeeded in attracting more than 1 million euros in two rounds of funding. Created by IESE MBA graduates Thomas Roggendorf, Jaume Betrian and Oriol Carerras, the firm provides services focused on digitizing catalogs and brochures, geo-locating them and making them searchable.
The first round of capital, closed during the first half of 2012, was contributed by Bonial International Group the leader and creator of the distribution model for digital catalogs and brochures worldwide. The group has operations in Germany, France, Russia and Brazil, as well as Spain.
The second round of financing was provided by shareholders of IESE’s seed capital fund FINAVES and the Botet Family Office. The second round of investment will be dedicated to the growth and consolidation of the business.
Since its creation, Ofertia has managed to position apps for Android, iPhone and iPad and currently reaches an audience of more than 12 million monthly users. Its technology was developed in-house with a team that is growing daily.
The success of Ofertia in attracting the attention of investors reflects the steady expansion of the digital industry.
The company is currently working with over 30 major distributors in sectors such as food, electronics, home improvement and toys. Ofertia helps connect customers with offers and products from the nearest shops so they can make an optimal purchasing decision. Distributors are able to generate awareness of offers and stores and can also measure the use of promotional materials. This helps distributors be more efficient and reduce environmental impact without having to invest in costly technologies.
Finaves is a seed-capital project backed by IESE and private and institutional investors that exclusively funds business ventures spearheaded by alumni of IESE Business School programs.
Since its foundation, Finaves has launched three seed and start-up capital funds that have invested in numerous promising early-stage companies led by IESE alumni on five continents. These companies have contributed to the creation of 1,000 jobs and generated more than 60 million euros in annual revenues.
