More education, networking and entrepreneurship for Alumni
The new projects of the Alumni Association
07/02/2013 Barcelona - Madrid
The annual meeting of the Executive Committee of IESE's Alumni Association was held on February 5, an event that connected the school's campuses in Madrid and Barcelona through two simultaneously-held sessions.
The meeting brought together presidents and secretaries of graduated classes, as well as representatives of Regional Chapters, who came from all over the world. During the meeting, the association's future projects were presented, as well as the 2011-2012 Annual Report.
IESE Alumni Association President Jorge Sendagorta provided a recap of activities led during the academic year, which included an increase in quality and quantity of sessions within the Continuous Education Program. In total, more than 300 events were held around the world, serving to further strengthen career development services offered to alumni.
Mireia Rius, director of the Alumni Division, announced that next year a new platform featuring career opportunities for IESE graduates will be created, as well as an alumni club that specializes in B2B, B2C and C2C. Alumni representatives congratulated IESE for the quality of services offered by the association, which places a strong focus on supporting professional careers and entrepreneurs.
Dean Jordi Canals thanked all alumni for all the support they give to the association and invited the attendees to continue serving as vital links between their classes and IESE, which has a community of more than 40,000 alumni around the world.
The Alumni Committee meeting closed with the presentation of the 2012 Research Excellence Awards, which this year went to IESE professors Pascual Berrone, Domènec Melé and Pedro Videla. The awards, created in 2002, recognize faculty members for their research work in three categories: best article, best book and best course. Winners are chosen by a jury comprising IESE professors and representatives from the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association. Key criteria for the awards include prestige and quality of research, regardless of discipline.
