Joaquim Vilà is a Professor in the Strategic Management, Innovation and Design Thinking Department. He is also the Academic Director of IESE’s Business School Executive Education Focused Programs on Innovation, Design Thinking and Strategic Leadership.
He served as a Research Associate at the Reginald H. Jones Center for Management Policy, Strategy and Organization and in the Management and Technology Program at the Wharton School.
He serves as an instructor in executive education programs and a consultant on strategic problem solving, implementing management innovation and design thinking to boost strategy, and sustainable innovation through culture and leadership change as well developing innovation capabilities in top leaders and strategic thinking capabilities in middle managers. He has consulted more than 80 national and international corporations, including Roche Diagnostics, Amgen, Telefónica, Komatsu, Nutrexpa, CBRE, Henkel, Nestlé, Zanini, SEAT, Premo and Sener. He also serves as innovation director in the board of several Spanish companies. He has created three companies, solving problems for the aging society, the identification of deep needs with AI and implementing total business innovation.
Professor Vilà has published in the areas of innovation and design thinking, strategy making, organizational renewal and top-management innovation systems. His current research focuses on developing breakthrough solutions to permanent problems in Strategic Management with a critical thinking approach.
