The mission of the Banco Sabadell Chair in Business and Sustainability is to promote applied research and academic debate around the main sustainability challenges facing companies. Through research projects, conferences and outreach activities, the chair seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the innovations, regulatory frameworks and best practices that are reshaping business management, while fostering a long-term, sustainable value creation approach.
Launched in 2026, this new chair succeeds the former Banco Sabadell Chair of Emerging Markets, previously held by IESE Professor Pedro Videla.

Carles Vergara-Alert is a professor and holder of the Banco Sabadell Chair in Business and Sustainability. His academic work focuses on the analysis of corporate sustainability, with a particular interest in its impact on the financial and real estate sectors. Through the chair, he promotes applied research, academic debate and outreach activities aimed at understanding how innovation, regulation and best practices are transforming investment, financing and asset management, contributing to responsible, long-term value creation.
