Today Barcelona hosts the 55th Global Alumni Reunion (GAR). Led this year by professors Africa Ariño and Núria Mas, it is the most important event of the IESE alumni calendar. Entitled ‘Be the Change: Leadership for a Positive New Era’, the reunion is a unique opportunity to understand how we can drive positive evolution.
With eminent academic sessions, and cultural and sporting activities, the event is also an excellent opportunity for networking, bringing together alumni and professors from all corners of the world on the Barcelona campus. The program includes academic sessions revolving around five themes: science and innovation, geopolitical and economic risk, internationalization, entrepreneurship and digital transformation.
There are more than 20 speakers, including names such as Deborah DiSanzo, General Manager of IBM Watson Health; Valentín Fuster, Director of the Cardiovascular Institute at Mount Sinai Medical Hospital in New York; Ian Goldin, Founding Director of the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford; Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary General of the Ibero American Conference; and IESE’s Prof. Pankaj Ghemawat, among many others.
Academic sessions can also be followed through live streaming, as well as behind-the-scenes interviews with speakers, professors and alumni.
To keep everyone informed of everything happening at the Global Alumni Reunion, the IESEGAR App is available for mobile phones and tablets, both iOS and Android. This application enables registered users to be in contact with each other, publish photos and comments on social networks with the hashtag #IESEGAR, and participate in surveys and competitions.
GAR participants already had the opportunity yesterday of visiting Alba Synchrotron Light Source, the HP headquarters, the Damm brewery and the logistics center of the fashion company Mango.
And there’s a run this Saturday for the sportier attendees, with proceeds going to the Mujeres por África (Women for Africa) NGO.
