Four new professors join IESE faculty

In the 2026-27 academic year, IESE’s faculty will add four new professors, strengthening the areas of People, Operations, Information and Technology, Entrepreneurship and General Management. These additions bring international research experience and new perspectives in areas such as the circular economy, digital platforms, entrepreneurship and business leadership.  

Among the new additions is Jean-François Manzoni, President of IMD (International Institute for Management Development) between 2017 and 2024, who joins IESE as Visiting Professor of the Practice of Management as of September 1, 2026 and will be Professor of the Practice of Management from January 2027. Attached to the Department of People Management in Organizations, Manzoni is a recognized expert in leadership, organizational development and corporate governance. Throughout his career he has held top-level academic and institutional responsibilities at IMD and INSEAD, and his research and teaching focus on how leaders drive change and build relationships, management teams and high-performing organizations. A citizen of Canada and France, he is a graduate of HEC Montréal, McGill University and Harvard Business School. 

Borja Apaolaza joins the Department of Operations, Information and Technology as an adjunct professor. He comes from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained his PhD in Operations, Information and Decisions. His research focuses on retail and platform operations, with a special focus on topics such as the circular economy, pricing and labor scheduling. His work combines the analysis of large volumes of data with analytical models and seeks to generate useful knowledge for both companies and employees and consumers. His research has been published in journals such as Manufacturing & Service Operations Management and Harvard Business Review.  

Anne-Sophie Sabbatucci, an assistant professor specializing in the study of entrepreneurship as a driver of positive social change, especially in contexts marked by adversity and institutional fragility, joins the Department of Entrepreneurship. Her research analyzes how entrepreneurs and other actors build entrepreneurial ecosystems, drive collective action, and address complex social challenges. Prior to joining IESE, she earned her PhD in Entrepreneurship from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and developed her professional career in strategic consulting and in a technology startup.  

The final addition is that of Marta Villamor Martín, assistant professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship. With a PhD in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Maryland and a degree in International Management from the University of Navarra, her research lies at the intersection of entrepreneurship, strategy and the philosophy of science. Her work studies how entrepreneurs form and revise their business ideas and how interactions with mentors and investors shape the evolution of these ideas and influence strategic decision-making. Before starting her academic career, she worked as a senior consultant at Management Solutions.  

With these new additions, IESE’s faculty for the 2026-27 academic year consists of 124 full-time professors, 99% of whom have a PhD degree. With 66 international professors and academics of 24 different nationalities, IESE’s faculty stands out for its diversity and global projection. In addition, 23.4% of the total faculty are women and the average age is 51 years. They are joined by 77 external collaborators and 5 visiting professors, who contribute to enriching the academic experience at IESE and the generation of impactful knowledge.
