It will examine the future of business from a deeply informed technological perspective, combining academic excellence with societal relevance.
This chair is supported by Rafael del Pino, Chairman of Ferrovial and member of IESE’s International Advisory Board, in recognition of his leadership, vision, and enduring commitment to innovation, enterprise, and societal progress. This chair would represent a lasting legacy—advancing cutting-edge research and preparing a new generation of leaders to navigate the profound changes shaping the world of work.
Objectives
Artificial Intelligence is fundamentally reshaping how organizations operate and how leaders lead. As AI systems increasingly inform decisions, automate processes, and redefine human roles, business leaders must reimagine structures, responsibilities, and capabilities. The chair will focus on questions such as the following:
- How will AI change organizational design, talent strategy, and decision-making?
- What leadership qualities will be required in AI-augmented environments?
- How can organizations innovate responsibly while preserving human dignity and purpose?
The chair will produce research, teaching, and thought leadership that equip business and society to meet these challenges with vision and integrity.

Sampsa Samila is Professor in the Strategic Management Department. He holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and a M.Sc. from Helsinki University of Technology. Professor Samila is the Academic Director of the AI and the Future of Management Initiative and leads the AI for Executives open enrollment program for senior executives. At IESE Business School, he teaches artificial intelligence, innovation strategy, and competitive strategy in a range of programs from MBA and EMBA to senior executives. He is particularly focused on how new technologies like AI enable new business models, the challenges of organizing to develop the capabilities and deliver the value, and how to change the mindset of executives to understand the changes brought by these new developments.
