The Seed of Hope

Japan Tsunami Appeal

When Teiichi Sato’s business in Rikuzentakata was destroyed by the tsunami that hit Japan last March, he immediately set about re-establishing it in the same location. He wrote a book about his experience in English to which, as he is in the seed business, he gave the title The Seed of Hope in the Heart.

Hiroyuki Nakatani, from the MBA class of 2013, asked his fellow MBA students to translate the book into Spanish in order to help raise funds for the NPO "Let’s Talk Foundation". The foundation was founded by the president of Mercer Japan, Mr. Tsuyoshi Komori, and has from the start been supported by IESE students and ESADE Aid for Japan.

The foundation aims to keep the world informed about the disaster, establish links between tsunami victims and people in other parts of the world and support activities in the affected area. As well as working to rebuild communities, it offers counselling and financial and moral support to the thousands of people whose lives were devastated by the earthquake and tsunami.
