IESE and ESE Alumni Create Fund to Help Earthquake Victims in Chile

The alumni associations of IESE and ESE (IESE's associated business school in Chile) have created a fund to help victims of the massive earthquake in Chile, with the collaboration of the Chilean bank BCI. The initiative reflects the close relationship that the school shares with its alumni in the country.

The IESE alumni community in Chile is among the school's most active. It includes more than 200 graduates, such as Lionel Olavaria (MBA'75), president of the Chapter in Chile, and managing director of BCI; Luis Enrique Yarur (MBA'75), president del BCI and José Patricio Jottar, managing director of Compañía de Cervecerías Unidas.

Olavaría thanked the school for the many gestures of support that alumni in Chile have been receiving from the IESE community, and encouraged others to show solidarity with the earthquake victims.

"As you know, thank God, all IESE and ESE alumni in Chile are fine. However, we must share with you the terrible situation that so many people are experiencing in our country. Many families have lost everything and I don't think that we can, nor should we, remain indifferent. For this reason, we would like to particularly express our appreciation to the Alumni Associations of IESE and ESE, which have offered - with the collaboration of BCI - to channel donations through a fund to go to those affected by the earthquake," he said.
